Sponsored by the Stafford American Legion Post 290

American Legion Post 290 in Stafford, Virginia sponsors an affordable girls fastpitch travel softball organization for young ladies. The age groups and number of teams fielded vary from year to year but currently have age groups 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U teams. The Post 290 Bombers was organized nearly two decades ago to provide young ladies in the community the opportunity to develop and play competitive travel fastpitch softball and to prepare them for middle school, high school and college softball. All levels of play are invited. Coaches and parents are not required to be veterans or members of The American Legion to participate.

The Post 290 Bombers participate in tournaments sanctioned by USSSA, NSA, and USA Softball as well as other tournaments and showcase events. This provides visibility to the players desiring to play at the college level. The Bombers play at a competitive travel level in tournaments primarily in Virginia and Maryland. Most practices and scrimmages are held at a field located at the American Legion Post 290 Sports Complex at 1151 Mountain View Rd in Stafford County, VA. Winter Workouts are scheduled at a local indoor facility.
