American Legion Baseball

Since 1925, The American Legion has sponsored a nationwide youth baseball program. During these past seven decades, millions of young players have enjoyed playing baseball. The American Legion and their 2.8 million members have raised millions of dollars each year for players to learn the importance of teamwork, discipline, leadership, and good sportsmanship. The American Legion sponsors American Legion Baseball to give players an opportunity to develop their skills, personal fitness, leadership qualities, and to have fun.

American Legion Baseball Season is June and July with the World Series in first part of August

 

Stafford American Legion Post 290 Baseball Tryouts

Tryout Dates:  TBD (Usually in May)

Tryouts will be held at Stafford American Legion Post 290 Sports Complex, 1151 Mountain View Road. Post 290 is able to form teams comprising players from all five Stafford County High Schools. This will result in our being able to field a very competitive team to compete for District, Department, and Regional Championships.  

All players wishing to try out must complete the Form 2 Players Agreement, found Here, (under 18 must be signed by Parent/Guardian) and have it notarized, and provide one of the accepted forms of Proof of Eligibility, found Here. prior to trying out for either the Post 290 Juniors, 17U or Post 290 Seniors, 19U teams.

The American Legion Baseball Scholarship

The American Legion awards between $22,000 and $25,000 in scholarships to deserving baseball players each year. Each Department Baseball Committee may select a player from its department to receive this scholarship. The American Legion will award several scholarships each year depending on the number of applicants and interest earned from the trust fund. For more information click Here.
